The following Private Education Institutions / Managers have contravened the Private Education Act and/or Regulations, and/or are in non-compliance of EduTrust Certification Terms and Conditions made thereunder:

CPE has imposed an administrative penalty of $2,500 on Kimarie Hair and Beauty Training Centre for their failure to ensure that every student contract contains complete and accurate information which is a contravention of Regulation 25(6) of the Private Education Regulations 2009.

27.03.2013 Ms Thasneem Begum d/o Kader Hasna Marican, NRIC S8100427G, manager/director of Mass Education Institute Pte Ltd, (MEI) Entity No. 200917121N. Stern Warning

 

 

CPE has issued a stern warning in lieu of prosecution on 27 March 2013 to two managers of MEI, a registered private education institution for contravening section 41(1)(c) read with regulation 6  and punishable  under section 61(2) of the Private Education Act Cap 147A, to wit for failing in their duties as managers of MEI to obtain the permission of the Council thirty (30) days before relocating from 1 Sophia Road, #06-24 Peace Centre, Singapore 228149 to 520 North Bridge Road, #03-01 Wisma Alsagoff Singapore 188742.

CPE has issued a stern warning in lieu of prosecution on 27 March 2013 to Mr Ji Guang the manager/director of RBC, a registered private education institution for contravening section 41(1)(c) read with regulation 6 and punishable  under section 61(2) of the Private Education Act Cap 147A, to wit for failing in his duty as manager of RBC to obtain the permission of the Council thirty (30) days before relocating from 260 Sims Avenue, ECM Building #03-01, Singapore 387604 to 1 Lorong J Telok Kurau, SCDF Telok Kurau Camp #01-01A, Singapore 425792.

Conviction

The Accused  Low Chia Liang Jeremy pleaded guilty, was convicted and sentenced as follows :-

 

1) Failing to ensure that the PEI he was managing (School of Applied Studies) comply with a lawful direction to refund students their course moneys which is an offence under section 60 (2) (a) read with section 60(5) and punishable under section 61(2) of the Private Education Act Cap 247A. The Court imposed a fine of $10,000 and in default ten (10) weeks jail.

 

2) Failing in his duty as Manager to ensure the keeping of proper student records which is an offence under section 41(1) (a) read with Section 41(3) of the Private Education Act Cap 247A. The Court imposed a fine of $6,000 and in default six (6) weeks jail.
